You can't Win...or Can You?

You can’t be a counselor if you don’t have life experience,”

said a dad who had seen me frequently engage with his young son, who was constantly forgotten at our program.

“Don’t go to that school, you’ll get stuck”

said the sister who was supposed to encourage me to be the best rather she discouraged me from following my passion.

You would never understand the impact of WORDS until they impact you. You know, the words you would never forget...The ones that sting. The ones that stick.

I remember the day I almost gave up on my educational dream. I remember the exact moment. The University that had accepted me, turned around and made a mistake. My brother, being the ultimate big brother he is, called and advocated for me, but that didn’t change anything. So here I was, University minded, going to community college. That was the best decision I ever made.

Words have been my fuel. Rejection has grown me. Why? Because if you tell me I can't do something, I will show you the many ways I can!

So here I am today, beating those odds and breaking barriers. Of course, when I signed up for the last leg of my educational journey, those words started floating around. Will I really complete this? Do I really have what it takes?

Self doubt is a terrible thing. It will hinder your journey by years if you let it. But why doubt when God promised that we could have everything we need. He told us that we already win!
